Planitulsa Scenarios Revealed

Tulsa - If nothing is done, eventually the city will look like a big donut--plenty of development out in the suburbs, but not a lot in the middle. However, the data shows that is not the kind of Tulsa that Tulsans want.

For those who slaved over big unwieldy maps with multi-colored stickers at countless round table discussions, the results are in.

Take Pine and Peoria for example, which Tulsans would like to see transformed from a lonely Sonic and an empty grocery store, to a vibrant mixed use center. In fact, based on your designs, they could attract an additional 72,000 residents by the year 2035. A rate 2 1/2 times greater than if we did no planning at all.

"I've actually participated from the very beginning," said Sharlene Johnson.

Johnson is one of the Planitulsa core members, invited tonight for a sneak peek at the various scenarios of Tulsa's future.

"OK, where are we with all of this?" asked Johnson.
